sportsmanship

So B is in a select soccer team.  On a team.  Part of a group.  However you want to say it.  She is a good soccer player.  Fast as snot.  (I don't actually know how fast snot is, but B is really, really fast.)  We had a tournament this weekend about 45 minutes away with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Friday's game they lost 1-0.  Saturday's game they lost 2-0.  Sunday's game they lost 5-0.

That's hard, dudes.

They tied one game this season.  They didn't win at ALL.

I'm all about teaching my kid good sportsmanship.  And really, she does pretty well.  When they're being aggressive and she knocks someone on their ass, she says, "You good?" over her shoulder as she runs away.  (I'm only laughing a little bit.)  She kneels when there's an injured player on the field.  She's team captain, and she cares about her team, shouting encouragement and directions in this huge manly voice that does not fit her teeny body.  But after all of this, it is hard to not win any games.  She was so discouraged after Sunday's game.  She's been discouraged after a lot of the games.

Where do you draw the line?

She really wants to play on the highschool team, and I think she can and will.  But she needs to know what it's like to win some games first.  It's hard as a mom to sit back and watch them each game.

Ah well.  She'll do indoor this winter, and then the same team in the spring.  We'll hope for a totally different result, and more growth and fun for the girls.

Our living room is arranged so that we can see out the windows from the chairs that we sit in.  It's nice most of the time; we can see what's going on in the neighborhood and have a nice sky view.  It works for me.

But the guy across the street needs a belt.  I've seen his crack as often as I've seen my husband's, and Chris is nearly a nudist.

Life right now consists of working two jobs, listening to music, attempting to parent two teenage girls, and trying to figure out if I have an ulcer somewhere.  The best part of that is the music (loving Cleopatra by The Lumineers).   The most challenging is a tie between the teenagers and the ulcer.

I'm about 3 weeks behind on The Big Bang Theory. Hopefully Sunday we can catch up.  I'v heard rumors about what's going to happen and I'm pretty excited.

I'm rereading J.D. Robb's In Death series, except I'm not reading them in order.  I kind of like it this way because I can't remember what has happened exactly, so it's like reading new books with the comfort of knowing that eventually I will sort of remember what's going on.  It makes me happy.

In the diffuser today: Let It Go.

Gonna go read some more I think.  I'll try to dress this up later, but for now I'm going for function.
